Lisa Cindrich, is the author of the upper middle-grade historical novel IN THE SHADOW OF THE PALI: A STORY OF THE HAWAIIAN LEPER COLONY (Putnam, 2002) and has also published poetry and fiction for adults in the Nation, The Florida Review, and other journals. Current projects include a children’s fantasy novel and a picture book about mutts.  Lisa works as a reference librarian in Kansas City, Kansas.

Victoria Dixon, enjoys writing Historical Fantasies and Young Adult literature. She is addicted to Historical Fantasies and particularly loves unusual settings. This led to writing Mourn Their Courage, a fantasy based on The Romance of the Three Kingdoms which is a Ming Dynasty-era work. MOURN THEIR COURAGE won second place in the 2010 Sandy Writers Contest. To help support herself and other writers with similar interest, Dixon also began the Yahoo Group, Authors of Asian Novels. The group is dedicated to providing encouragement and information to those writers interested in Asian settings and/or characters. Membership is free. Margaree King Mitchell, is the award winning author of UNCLE JED’S BARBERSHOP, a Coretta Scott King Honor book illustrated by James Ransome. UNCLE JED’S BARBERSHOP has also been adapted into a musical.  It was the winner of the National Music Theater Network’s Director’s Choice Award. Performances in theaters around the country starting May 27, 2011 in Denver, Colorado featuring Broadway star, Ken Prymus, as Uncle Jed.  Margaree is also the author of GRANDDADDY’S GIFT. Her next book, WHEN GRANDMAMA SINGS is illustrated by James Ransome and will be published January 2012.

Dorinda Nicholson, is the award winning author of PEARL HARBOR WARRIORS published by National Geographic, and PEARL HARBOR CHILD. Dorinda has published numerous travel articles, and authored a series of educational filmstrips for children about the history, culture, industry, and land of Hawaii. These filmstrips have won a silver medal from ITVA. She also originated the concept for “A Woman’s Year,” an organizational calendar for women, published by Hallmark Cards.

Nancy Pistorius of Lawrence, Kansas, has published award-winning fiction, poetry, essays, and feature articles in more than seventy-five different literary and mass-market publications, and was editor of Spoon River Literary Review. Her most recent honor was the 2009 Langston Hughes Creative Writing Award (Fiction).

Duane Porter is an award-winning author of children’s literature. He has published three novels and is currently working on the final book in his fantasy/adventure trilogy set in Ireland, MOLLY O’MALLEY AND THE PIRATE QUEEN.

Susan Kneib Schank is the author of picture book TERA’S DAWN and is published in numerous anthologies and magazines. She lives in Parkville, Missouri with her husband, Jim, daughter, Ivy Rose, Cosi, the dog, and Polly, the parrot.

Marilyn Underwood is a former science teacher with a BA and an MA in Biology, and is a current full time wife and mother. She has written several picture books and is currently working on her first middle grade novel. She is a member of JWKC, HWKT, and SCBWI.
